INRI

This acronym comes from the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, where on the top of the Crucifix was written the Latin phrase Jesus Nazarenus Rex Jeducorum, which translates as “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” Alchemists later ascribed to it the meaning of Igne Natura Renovatur Integra, which translates as “the whole of nature is renewed by fire,” and Igne Nitrum Raris Invenitum, which tranlates as “shining is rarely found in fire.”
